New Mission Effort to Plant Church in Brazil

The Matador church of Christ is one of several congregations of the church that has pledged to support Rui & Nadia Diogo, Roberto & Marisa Signoretti and Leonel & Vanete Silva in their efforts to plant a new church in the Brazilian city of Ponta Grossa, Brazil.

Rui & Nadia Diogo visited the Matador church on September 16, 2018 to explain their method of planting churches. Rui spoke at the 10:00 am service and the 11:00 am service. He showed a video presentation and took questions as well. Afterwards he and Nadia joined us for a special potluck luncheon in their honor.

Members Welcome New SIBI Student to Church Family

Matador church of Christ welcomes Jimitri and Ruby Green and daughter, Jaleah to our fellowship. The congregation is excited to be among those helping to support Jimitri during his time at the Sunset International Bible Institute in Lubbock, Texas. Jimitri will be speaking every first Sunday during the duration of his training in Lubbock.

This past Sunday was his first opportunity to speak. He presented a wonderful lesson about the importance of having a firm foundation in the Word of God before attempting to tackle life’s trials. Please make a special effort to attend services every first Sunday to hear this young evangelist and to meet his sweet family.

Fall Gospel Meeting Well Received

The final two nights of the Gospel meeting held at the Matador church of Christ included capacity crowds and amazing lessons by Mike Crowley, Jr. of Midland. “What Steals Joy? or Why Do I Have Spiritual Fatigue?” was the topic on Tuesday night, and was easily applicable to all. On Wednesday night, Mike explored the fascinating subject of eternity with a message entitled “What Will Heaven Be Like?” Following each service, supper was served to those that wanted to stay and enjoy fellowship with friends, old and new. All in all, at least 13 communities were represented at the event with visitors from Floydada, Crosbyton, Mcadoo, Lubbock, Paducah, Roaring Springs, Dickens, Northfield, Afton, Turkey, Flomot, Whiteflat and Matador in attendance.

Coming Soon…Ask GOD

If you could only ask God one question, what would it be? Perhaps it would be, “Why do good people suffer?”, or maybe, “How was the world made?”. It might even be, “What is the meaning of life?” Whatever your One Question is, we want to invite you to come and explore the Bible as we look for answers to our questions.

Mike Crowley, Jr. of Midland, Texas will be the featured speaker at the Fall Gospel Meeting at the Matador Church of Christ. Beginning on Sunday, October 1 and running through Wednesday, October 4, Mike will be using the Bible to try and answer some of the questions he receives from the community.

You are encouraged to consider what your One Question would be and to either drop your question into the One Question box at the library in Matador, in the box in the lobby of the Matador church of Christ, by handing it to any member of the Matador church of Christ, or by sending your One Question to Mike directly by emailing him at:

The fall Gospel meeting with Mike Crowley, Jr. was a huge success in that large, capacity crowds gathered at each session to hear the Word proclaimed. Many surrounding communities were represented among the participants. Following each session everyone enjoyed a time of food and fellowship.
